Reaching Small Coffee Farmers in Peru with the IPad

This morning I attended a very interesting event offered through the TechnologySalon, a series of events organized by Wayan Vota, who is Senior Director at Inveneo.
Wayan invited Corey Pressman of Exprima Media and David Griswold of Sustainable Harvest to do a presentation and Q&A on their collaborative effort to develop IPad applications for small coffee growers in Mexico, Peru and Tanzania.
Sustainable Harvest, a coffee importer based in Portland Oregon, worked with Exprima Media, a software strategy, design and developmnet firm, to develop its Relationship Information Tracking System (RITS). RITS gives coffee cooperatives digital tools to improve their management, crop productivity, and quality control. In addition to the software to better manage the cooperatives' business, RITS deliver educational content in three languages English, Spanish, and Swahili, including videos and information about coffee agronomy, food security, and coffee business.
The video below provides additional details on how these two organizations are using innovative technologies to improve incomes and lives in developing countries.
