April works on all things digital for Bixal’s contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), including social media, website content management, copyediting, graphic design, video production, newsletter formatting and marketing analytics. She is also a proud member of Bixal's first Diversity & Inclusion Council.
Before joining Bixal, April worked in communications for a national nonprofit, where she helped shape public narratives around sexual violence in the press and entertainment industry. April also taught English in Guadalajara, Mexico, worked as a writer and editor for a small magazine in Hollywood, spent time as a visiting researcher at Oxford University and worked briefly at a recording studio in New York. A native of Los Angeles, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and a Bachelor of Science in music at a small school in southern California, and she is currently finishing her thesis for a master’s degree in psychology from Harvard University. April has recorded three CDs and run four marathons and, in 2017, she rode her bike 3,200 miles across the U.S. — from the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, California to the Atlantic Ocean in St. Augustine, Florida. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her 8-pound dog, Glory, who you can catch on Instagram @instaglorious.
