Carla brings more than 20 years of experience supporting digital transformation initiatives to Bixal, where she focuses her energy on identifying opportunities to allow members of the Bixal Team to use their talents and skills to do work that makes a positive impact on people’s lives. Carla sees her role at Bixal as a servant-leader and is passionate about nurturing Bixal’s collaborative, kind and fun culture.
Originally from Southern California, Carla earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in Spanish from California State University, Long Beach, and a master’s degree in international policy studies and advanced Spanish from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. She also has a certification in business programming. Carla’s career path includes serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Guatemala, directing a nonprofit program for Latino immigrants in Southern California, supporting international development activities in Latin America and working as a developer and digital project manager. In her spare time, Carla enjoys biking, hiking, reading and spending time with friends and family. Carla is passionate about racial equity, immigration and multilingualism. One of her most exciting adventures was a two-day jungle hike in Guatemala during her Peace Corps service.
