At Bixal, Felipe assists the National Library of Medicine (NLM) with content for the Spanish language version of its MedlinePlus website. He manages the MedlinePlus en Español social media accounts as well as content for its weekly Spanish language newsletter. Felipe is also part of a team recognized by NLM for the delivery, management and display of information based on customer feedback and analytics.
Before Bixal, Felipe was a web editor for Voice of America's Latin American Service and a features editor for a United States Department of Defense (DoD) project focused on Latin American security. A native of Iquique, Chile, Felipe has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Universidad de La Serena in his home country. When he’s not working, Felipe enjoys hiking and playing tennis, and he strongly believes greater efforts should be made to make people aware of how they can prevent medical issues later in life. His favorite musicians include Fontaines D.C., Tool, Pink Floyd, Los Prisioneros and Los Jaivas. Little known fact: He was a supernumerary at the National Washington Opera for several years, meaning he appeared on stage but had no lines.
