Katie is the lead content strategist for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Intranet and its website www.HHS.gov. She is also the lead content strategist for the U.S. Web Design Systems, the agency charged with providing a toolkit for the design and creation of all federal websites.
Prior to joining Bixal, Katie was a user experience (UX) designer and a science communications professional with extensive experience in building and managing websites. She is the recipient of an Innovation Award from the Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences at the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine. Katie has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and English with minors in Spanish and international studies from West Virginia University’s Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. She also holds an NN/g UX Certification as well as certifications in User Experience and writing for children. A native of Washington, D.C., Katie volunteers for the h3 Project, which works with homeless populations. She enjoys arts and crafts and playing bocce ball, disc golf and trivia games in her spare time. A little-known fact: Katie is pretty good at training and herding cats.
