Laura is a flex editor working on a project for the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration. She primarily edits reports for clarity, consistency, and style guide compliance.
Laura is from New Brighton, MN, USA. She earned her B.A. degree in psychology and religion from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Before joining Bixal, Laura worked as an editor at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, N.M. She spent three years working on a multivolume reference work on plutonium science. Before that, Laura spent time working in medical editing, specifically neurology and educational testing. Laura is a registered yoga teacher and teaches three times weekly. She is also an ultramarathoner and an avid runner, having qualified for the Boston Marathon twice. She enjoys lifting weights, hiking, reading and painting. Her most exciting adventure is completing a 50-mile trail race in northern Minnesota and running a relay race across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with a team of seven women over several days.
