Michael is currently working with the Department of Treasury’s (USDT’s) Office of Technical Assistance (OTA) to develop a monitoring, evaluation and leaning system for their technical assistance projects, and he manages the evaluations of a portion of the department’s 100 projects across 50 countries.
Michael is from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and earned a B.A. in political science and Spanish at the University of Wisconsin as well as an M.A. in political science from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. Prior to joining Bixal, he was based in Bogota at the University of the Sabana, where he managed multiple research projects on the ongoing armed conflict in Colombia. He then worked at the University of Chicago, where he managed a large-scale, randomized control trial evaluation of a gun violence reduction program. Outside of work, Michael enjoys rock climbing, cycling, hiking, yoga and cooking. He lived in Bogota for nearly 10 years and one of his greatest adventures was traveling by boat from Colombia to Brazil on the Amazon River for five days.
