Philip applies his keen leadership, listening and facilitation skills to help scale the practice of human-centered design (HCD) at Bixal. Building the UX Team from the ground up, he has shaped the tools, methods and career paths for the practice. Through ongoing collaboration with other practice leadership, Philip helps teams become more agile while maintaining focus on the people we’re designing for and with. He has also contributed to bringing more HCD-focused and impactful work to Bixal with projects like the U.S. Web Design System and Online Transactions for the U.S. Social Security Administration.
Philip attended Berklee College of Music where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music production and engineering and went on to get his M.Ed. in instructional design and technology from George Mason University. He has a wide variety of web development experience, instructional design and product design, focusing on education technology before starting at Bixal as a design strategist. When he’s not working, Philip enjoys reading books, solving crossword puzzles, making coffee and thinking about how people and organizations create value for each other. A native of Fairfax, Va., his most exciting adventure has been an off-road motorcycle trip through Colorado's mountains with his wife.
