Melissa is a senior program manager with over 15 years of experience in the human services, nonprofit, and federal sectors. In her role at the Department of Justice, she works with Federal Advisory Committees that advise the President and Congress on issues related to juvenile justice. She previously managed programs at the American Public Human Services Association where she worked closely with public human service agencies and led a project to develop and implement standards for the field of child welfare. Melissa earned a master’s degree in public policy from American University, an executive master’s degree in leadership from Georgetown University, and a bachelor of arts degree in sociology with a minor in women’s studies from the University of Washington.
