Celebrating National Consumer Protection Week!

National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) is happening now! Running from March 6-12, NCPW “is a coordinated campaign that encourages consumers nationwide to take full advantage of their consumer rights and make better-informed decisions.” NCPW.gov provides great resources for consumers seeking information about mortgage loans and homeownership, scam and fraud alerts, credit and debt, and much more. These valuable tips are provided by federal and state governments, as well as some non-profit organizations.

At Bixal, we believe consumer education is crucial for a healthy economy, and we strive to use meaningful communications and innovative technology to assist our clients in educating and serving their communities.

One way we achieve this is through our support of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Housing Counseling and Certification Program, which provides training and credentialing for housing counselors across the nation. Bixal created over eight hours of online training to educate housing counselors about key topics mandated by the Dodd-Frank Act, such as protecting families from mortgage frauds and scams, supporting homebuyers who are purchasing new homes, and providing options for homeowners who are trying to avoid foreclosure. A fully responsive and accessible web platform provides access to the interactive training materials, a practice test, and the certification exam. You can read more about our work on this program, which furthers HUD’s efforts to improve the housing counseling industry and educate the public about housing and finance.

We have also supported other consumer protection and financial literacy initiatives, including the National Credit Union Administration, which provides financial education resources to help consumers build savings and achieve their dreams.

At Bixal, we celebrate NCPW as an important annual event to raise awareness about the important topic of being a savvy consumer, and, as this is one of our key areas of focus, we hope our current (and future) work in this area make a difference where a difference needs to be made!
