#MOTOWNMOVES For Surgery – Bixal sponsors groovy FUN-raiser for an amazing cause!
Partner for Surgery is on the front lines of medical and surgical care in rural Guatemala, helping impoverished Guatemalans living in remote locations. Tens of thousands of Guatemalan children and their families have received surgery, medical attention, and health education since Frank and Todd Peterson started volunteer surgical and medical services to Guatemala in 1999.
My first experience in Guatemala was serving as a Health Nutrition extensionist in the Peace Corps from 1989 to 1991. More recently, my daughter, Sofia, and I worked on the ground with a group of doctors and nurse practitioners from Canada during a medical triage mission in 2019, where I was able to support and witness first-hand the valuable work of Partner for Surgery in these severely impoverished communities. Sofia and I worked closely with the medical staff to interpret for them and make a few home visits. During our weeklong stay, we were able to see two wonderful families who I lived with as a volunteer during my Peace Corp service.
In addition to my own experience, supporting this event is very much aligned with Bixal’s focus on two key Federal initiatives––advancing healthcare and international development. Not only is this cause near and dear to my heart, it is equally our corporate social responsibility to fully support this effort.
Please consider attending the event or donating to this wonderful cause! All proceeds go to raise money for Partner for Surgery's work providing some of the world's most impoverished people with life-changing surgical care:
