Felipe supports the National Library of Medicine’s MedlinePlus en español website. A journalist, he started his career in 2002 writing for the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, where he polished his writing on a wide range of issues, from sports to trade. Eventually he made his way to Washington, DC, where he worked for a local Spanish language newspaper covering immigration at the same time that rallies swept the nation demanding comprehensive immigration reform. He also started editing the health section of the newspaper, gaining valuable insight into both health policy the medical field. During his tenure as editor, the health section won a series of awards given by the National Association of Hispanic Publications.
