Instructional Designer/Training Specialist

DJ works on the Department of Justice (DOJ) National Institute of Corrections contract and the DOJ Office of Audit, Assessment and Management (OAAM) contract as an instructional designer and training specialist. His duties include developing and enhancing learning products. He also provides research and training development support on Bixal’s ViAtlas Learning Portal project. Internally, DJ manages Bixal’s Lunch and Learns and various internal trainings.

DJ is from Big Stone Gap, Va. He received his B.S. in psychological research and M.A. in psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. Before coming to Bixal, he worked as a training coordinator at a nonprofit organization, spent two years as an investigator for a government contractor and conducted research at Yale University. DJ has earned certifications in e-learning instructional design, instructional design program, Agile project management, 508 compliance and human-centered service design. Additionally, he is a certified massage therapist. DJ is the creator of the Lonesome Pine Podcast, which received an Audio Verse Award. He is also a performer with Shoestring Theatre Company. DJ is committed to supporting survivors of sexual violence, LGBTQ+ causes, and the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
